ABERAYRON. Occasional Petty Sessions. At the Town Hall on Wednesday of last week, before the Rev. J. M. Griffiths, Llansamlet: Major Hughes, Alltlwyd; and Captain Jenkyn Thomas, John Lewis Edwards, Green Garden, Llanon, was charged by P.O. Evan Lewis, Llanon, with having been drunk and disorderly at Pennant on the previous night. P.C. Lewis said that on the previous night a man called to him from the back of the Black Lion Inn, Pennant, that he was being murdered by Edwards, the defendant. Immediately both men appeared on the roadway, and defendant went for the man who had shouted.. He (P.C Lewis separated them. The man went in to the Black Lion Inn, and he stopped defendant from following him. Defendant then struck him (the Constable) on the face. A struggle followed, and both fell to the ground. Afterwards he asked defendant to go home, and a neighbour promised to take him. but he refused to go. Defendant then struck him a second time, when he hand-cuffed him and brought him down to Aberayron lock-up. Defendant denied the assault, but admitted the minor charge. For being drunk and disorderly he was sent to prison for one month, without the option of a fine. For the assault on the constable he was fined 40s. and costs; in default, fourteen days, to follow the one month. Previous convictions were proved. Defendant went to prison.
