Description: Although the pub isn't mentioned by name, Owen Jones was the licensee of the Merionethshire Arms in Northgate Street in 1871

Transcript:
ASSAULT. Owen Edwards, North-gate-street, summoned Owen Jones publican, North-gate-street, for the above offence. Complainant, sworn: On Saturday night last, about half past 11 o'clock, he called at the defendant's house for a glass of ale. After having been supplied he was kicked out of the house by the defendant and his wife. The defendant denied the above statement, and said that he ordered him to leave the house because he behaved indecently towards his (the defendant's) wife. Whenever he entered the house he always created a disturbance. The above defence was corroborated by one John Roberts. The complainant said that the last witness knew nothing of the case, as he was at the time playing dominoes in company with others. Case dismissed, Mr Griffith Thomas remarking that should he be present at the next annual licensing meeting, he should certainly take into consideration the fact of the defendant having allowed dominoe-playing at that late hour of the night.
