AssaultsDavid Jones, Cwmnant, Llanwenog, charged Jacob Isaac, Penybryn, Dihewid, with an assault at Penpompren Llanwenog, on the 16th ult. Several witnesses were examined. Defendant stated that the complainant took hold of his board before he struck him. The Bench retired to a private room, and on their return announced that the defendant was fined 5s, including costs. Jacob Isaac charged David Jones with an assault. This was a cross-summons, which was dismissed. Rachel Evans, of Penpompren, charged David Jones, Cwmnant, with an assault, on the 10th inst., by striking her. Defendant denied the assertion, and added that he merely pushed the complainant. Mrs Evans deposed that on the day in question she offered to wash some blood from defendant's face, when he struck her under the table. The case was dismissed. David Jones, Cwmnant, charged Evan Evans, of Penpompren, with an assault. This case was adjourned in the meantime the police were directed to proceed against him for permitting drunkenness on his premises on the 16th inst.- Thomas Thomas, Brynrhogfuen, Llanwenog, was also charged with having assaulted David Jones in the melee, but as there was no evidence against him, the Chairman said the defendant left the court without a stain on his character,
