Alleged Assault.-David Morgan, Esgairllwyd, summoned Morgan Morgan and Jenkin Morgan, Ffosgog, Lledrod, and Morgan Evans, Tynresger, for having assaulted him on the 25th September. Mr. J. J. Atwood appeared for complainant. The hearing of the case occupied about three hours. Win. Morgan said he was with his brother, the complainant, at Pontrhydfendigaid fair on September 25th, and saw the three defendants near the door of the Red Lion public house. Defendants tried to pick a quarrel with him. There had been a dispute between witness and Jenkin Morgan, and Jenkin Morgan had given him a thrashing. When they had been there some little time David Morgan came out of the Red Lion, and Jenkin Morgan struck him with an ash stick, until he fell. David Morgan had said nothing to provoke the blow. Morgan Morgan, another defendant, then ran forward, and kicked Morgan in the right eye. David Jones helped complainant to get up, and Jenkin Morgan knocked him down again. David Jones picked complainant up again. When on the ground, however, Morgan Morgan kicked complainant on the shoulder. Witness then went on, and got Morgan Morgan away. John Jones, Pensarn, Blaenpennal, gave corroborative evidence as to the alleged assault near the Red Lion, and added that five o'clock in the evening. David and Evan Morgan, Morgan's brother, and he (witness) were going home. David Morgan was on horseback. When about a quarter of a mile from Pontrhydfendigaid on the Ystrad Meurig road they overtook the three defendants, and also Morgan Evans's father. They were all on horseback When witness and his companion had passed, the men on horseback had gone on a short distance. Jenkin Morgan came up and struck David Morgan with a stick. David Morgan jumped off his horse and ran after Jenkin Morgan. Morgan Morgan then came up, and struck David Morgan. A great many other witnesses were called to give corroborative evidence. The defendant also called many witnesses to show that the complainant was the aggressor. The Bench dismissed the case.
