Licence renewal refused

Source: Weekly Mail 15/09/1883       Date: 1883

Description:

Transcript:
Superintendent D. Williams objected to a renewal of the licence of the Tivyside Inn. Llechryd, as the landlady (Alice Parry Edwards) had been twice convicted during the last twelve months for drunkenness and permitting drunkenness. Mr. V. G. George, solicitor, appeared for Mrs. Edwards. The Superintendent also remarked that she had been twice previously convicted. The Bench refused to grant a renewal of the licence to Mrs. Edwards, but consented to the same being taken out by another responsible and respectable person. The court was, therefore, adjourned for a fortnight for that purpose.
