FELONIOUS ASSAULT. Thomas Evans, sworn: I am a railway labourer, and reside at Rhydgaled, in the parish of Gwnnws I went to bed between 9 and 10 o'clock on the night of Saturday, the 13th inst., all the inmates of the house, with the exception of the daughter of the landlady of the house, had also gone to bed about the same time as I went, viz., two lodgers, the landlady, and her son; the whole of the inmates slept down stairs in the same room. About an hour after I and the other inmates had gone to bed, I heard the accused, Evan Evans, calling outside the window of the house to the daughter to open the door and give him a pint of beer. the daughter replied she would not; the accused then swore he would burst the door open if she would not open it herself. The daughter then called the accused by his name, and told him not to burst the door open; the accused swore again, and said he would burst the door open if she did not immediately open the door and give him a pint of beer, which he said he was entitled to demand, he being a traveller. At this time Mrs Dorothy Jenkins, the landlady, called out to her daughter to give the accused a glass of beer, that she might have quiet to sleep. The daughter then opened the door, and gave the accused a pint of beer, which he drank. He then came into the house, the daughter asked him to go to his lodgings; the accused replied, You come and shut the door after me, don't think I want you: the daughter then said, don't take out your knife, Evan; the accused then said I will, by God.
