Drunkenness. Mr. John Davies, Castell, Llandyssiliogogo, was charged by P.C. T. Phillips, New Inn, with being drunk and riotous on the highway at Llwyndafydd on the 22nd January. Fined £ 1, and 9s. 6d. costs. Mr. Francis Evans, Crown Inn, Llwyndafydd, licensed victualler, was charged by the same complainant with permitting drunkenness on his premises on the 22nd January. Mr. Griffith Jones, Aberystwyth, appeared for defendant, and submitted that no evidence was forth- coming to prove the sale of drink. The constable had only seen the defendant in the last case coming out tottering, but had not seen him entering. The constable also admitted that he had not entered the house at all. The Bench dismissed the summons.
