Offence: Murder of David Ephraim, Llanllwchaearn, mariner, prosecutor's husband, by striking him with a soldering iron, of a type 'that tinkers use'. Prisoner, deceased and David Enoch had been drinking in The New Storehouse Inn at New Quay. A dispute arose outside concerning the disappearance of another's budget. Deceased struck whilst on his way to his boat. Judge Beard wrote 'No doubt but the crime as proved was murder'.
