Report of Licence Renewal Authority for the Red Lion Inn, Ffosyffin
Objection was taken to the transfer of the License of the Red Lion Inn on the following grounds:
(1) That the house is quite unnecessary, being 2 miles of Aberaeron and 3 from Llanarth
(2) That it is injurious to the religion and morality of the neighbourhood.

Only 23 people live in Ffosyffin, no travellers go there, … I am a staunch teetotaller … I would close all public houses if I could.

It is near Henfynyw church yard and the inn might be required by those who attend funerals.
A petition was signed by 336 people to renew the licence ... We have a good trade. ... My Aunt, was the old licensee ... Messrs Evans Bros, Pengarreg meet at our house to pay their customers. Cattle Dealers and Pig merchants often call there.
