"MARRIAGES. On the 18th inst., at St. Michael's Church, Aberystwith, by the Rev. E. Owen Phillips, Mr. E. Rowland Owens, Bridge-end House, to Eliza Maria, eldest daughter of Mr. John Evans, Castle Inn, Aberystwith. This was the first marriage solemnised in the newly constituted parish of St. Michael's." "CRUELTY TO ANIMALS. John Evans, of Castle Inn, Auctioneer, Aberystwyth, was charged with having allowed his pony to be brutally beaten and driven along the streets with the fetters on, thereby causing a wound on her leg, from which the blood flowed. The pony was very much tortured. Richard Evans, a boy, about eleven years old, (who may well be described as the Young Savage) was charged with having driven the said pony. Case dismissed, with a caution." AO 26 Oct 1865

In the County Court of Cardiganshire holden at Aberystwyth. IN the matter of John Evans, late of the Cause Castle Arms, Pier Street, in the town of Aberystwyth in the County of Cardigan, but now of the Castle Inn, Bridge Street, in the town of Aberystwyth afore- said, Auctioneer and Victualler, adjudged Bankrupt on the 22nd day of March, 1866. AN Order of Discharge will be delivered to the Bankrupt after the expiration of thirty days from this date, unless an appeal be duly entered against the judgment of the Court, and Notice there-of be given to the Court. Dated this 23rd day of June. 1866
