"ACCIDENT. - On Saturday evening a maid employed by Mr Pemberton, Central Hotel, Great Darkgate-street, whilst cleaning a window on some steps, slipped and fell sustaining a severe scalp wound. A young man who witnessed the accident from the other side of the road ran across and found her in an unconscious condition, bleeding freely from the head. With assistance she was carried into the house and attended to by Doctors Thomas and Bonsall, under whose care she is progressing favourably. " CN 29 June 1900
