"ABERAYRON. SAD NEWS. The sad news was received on Wednesday morning, January 17th, that Evan Evans, eldest son of Mr and Mrs John Evans, "Rope and Anchor" House, had died of wounds in East Africa. He belonged to the Legion of Frontiersmen. and before joining was a stone mason at Aberayron. His brother Tom. the Cheshire Regiment, was reported missing some months ago. The most sincere sympathy with the parents, Mr and Mrs John Evans, in their poignant grief and great loss is everywhere expressed. " CN 26 Jan 1917
