Transcript:THE REFRESHMENT ROOMS.
Mr C. Mytton, railway refreshment rooms, Aberystwyth, was charged by P.C. Evan Davies with keeping his rooms open in contravention of the 'Licensing Act, 1872, on the 14th August.—The Officer stated that he was on the platform on the day in question, when he saw John Lloyd there before the train come in. After the train had arrived, witness saw Lloyd go into the refreshment room where he was supplied with a glass of beer. In cross-examination witness admitted that if he had not seen the man on the platform before the train came in, he would have been taken for a traveller.—Miss Rees said she did not know whether the man was a traveller or no, as he was a stranger to her.—Mr Arthur J. Hughes, who appeared for the defence, called Miss Rees, a stranger to the town, and who assists Mr Mytton, stated that two strangers came into the refreshment-room, and both said they had arrived by train. The Bench did not consider the case proved, and it was discharged.
KEEPING ILLEGAL HOURS.
John Lloyd, lapidary, Terrace-road, and W. Walter, waiter, Queen's Hotel, were charged by P.C. Evan Davies with being in the refreshment rooms, after closing hours, on the 14th August.—The case was proved by P.C. Davies. The defendants admitted that they were not travellers, neither did they represent it so, but were on the premises, and the Bench fined defendants 5s. each and costs.
