Three Horse Shoe, Trefeirig, Bow Street. Licensee, Mr. David Owen; owners, Messrs. Roberts and Sons, Aberystwyth; tied house for beer only; ratable value, £4 16s.; county agent's valuation for compensation, £70 15s. 6d. Superintendent Phillips confirmed his evidence given when the licence was referred, and, in answer to Mr. A. J. Hughes .(for the licensee and owners) said the district was formerly one of the principal mining districts of the county; but there was no mining now. The house was a good, substantial country house, but he would not call it a white elephant.- Referring to the absence of vouchers for spirits and mineral waters, the Chairman said if licensees did not keep records they must take the consequences in compensation.-The Committee's Valuer said he did not find a single mine open in the district or hear of prospect of re-opening. If there was a demand in the district for houses, it would make a good dwelling. He put its unlicensed rent at £ 3. The claim was £117 5s. and the Committee allowed £51 19s. 7d. compensation.
