"A Terror to Publicans."-Supt. Jones, Llangeitho charged David Edwards, Llwyn-groes, Gartheli, a blacksmith, with being drunk and disorderly at Llundain-fach on the 3rd Sept. P.C. Thomas deposed that at about ten minutes past nine o'clock on Saturday night, 3rd September, he was on duty in Llundain-fach. Witness was staying on the road, when he heard a noise in the public house, and heard the landlord telling defend- ant to go out, that he would not serve him with more beer. He then heard defendant curse and swear, and say that he would not go out until he had more. Witness then saw the landlord, and went into the parlour after him, who complained that "Dai Griffith Go" was there drunk, and would not go out." In the meantime defendant came to the parlour door, when the landlord told him he would get no more beer. Witness then told defendant to go home quietly, as he had requested the landlord not to serve him with more beer. Witness went out, and after much persuasion, defendant came out, and could hardly stand oh his feet. Defendant then came up to witness and said "tir d----l policeman newydd Llangeitho sydd yna, likiwn i siarad a ti-" Witness again requested him to go home, and threatened to lock him up at. Tregaron. Defendant then left in the direction of Abermeurig, and witness could hear him curse and swear for a long time. It was the most foul language he had ever heard. Witness had received complaints from publicans at Llangeitho that defendant was a terror, and they were afraid of him. Defendant said that the constable struck him three times on the head. He had only had three pints, and had a pint, with him to take home. A drop of beer made him good, and he would drink a. little again, Everyone knew he was fond of beer, but he did not harm to anyone. A fine of 2s. 6d. and costs was inflicted.
