Accidents. One day last week as Mr Dierks, photographer, Aberayron, was riding a bicycle from Pennant down the steep road near this village, the breaks of his machine failed to act when he was attempting to negociate a curve in the road which forms an acute angle. The result was that the rider was thrown to the thorny hedge and the machine completely wrecked. On Satur- day evening, an accident befel a motorcar from the Swansea; district, on its way from Aberayron towards Llanon. The occupants, being strangers to the road, allowed the car to rattle" down the steep road known as Rhiw-y-Plough," at so brisk a pace that the chauffeur failed to keep the car on the road at the sharp curve at the bottom. The wheels on the right of the car passed a short space along the green sward by the roadside till the front wheel crossed a tran- serve water course. Here the wheels col- lapsed, leaving only the hubs intact. The occupants were thrown out, but escaped none the worse for the mishap. The men coming over to the village wired for a conveyance to Aberystwyth. It is a great pity that the Cycling Tourists' Club, or some other public body, has not erected a danger sign at the top of this hill. As it remains now, it may be said that the spot at the bottom is an ideal place at which to establish a: profit- able depot for the sale of splints, crutches, sticking plaster, and the like, judging from the number of accidents that occur here in a year.
