ASSAULT. D. Jenkins, sworn I got up on Tuesday month at 3 o'clock in the morning, and I saw a light at the Talbot Inn, and I went down there and called for a glass of ale the first thing I heard there was a quarrel with Evan Herbert. I told defendant and others to leave him alone; Thomas Jones said, do you hear that; I put my hand on Edwin James' shoulder, and he struck me, then the others got up and kicked me. Defendant struck me. They took my watch off my neck and broke the chain. I was pushed out of the room into another, and there I stopped after that Edward Lewis, carrier, came into the kitchen and called for a glass of ale, and they then began to beat him, and I pulled him into the same room as I was. Edward Lewis wanted to fight, but I prevented him. Enoch Williams then came out, and said that he would kill Edward Lewis. They left the house before I did. John Davies. sworn I was at the Talbot Inn when Enoch Williams is said to have assaulted the plaintiff; I did not see defendant striking plaintiff, he only tried to stop Edwin James from striking plaintiff. Plaintiff struck defendant. Thomas Jones, sworn I was fined for assaulting plaintiff, I was with Enoch Williams on the day in question. He did not strike plaintiff, he only tried to stop Edwin James from doing so. Nobody kicked plaintiff. Jane Jenkins, sworn: My father keeps the Talbot Inn. I remember Tuesday morning. Enoch Wil- liams did not strike complainant. Case dismissed. AFFILIATION. Margaret Lewis v. Thomas Humphreys. In this case, which came on for hearing after a second adjournment, Mr. T. C. Hughes was solicitor for defendant. Case dismissed.
